The original Art Nouveau-inspired painting of this crowned butterfly is painted in watercolor and gold leaf and signed by Kari Del Vecchio. 
 
It was painted in memory of a dear friend. David Marks lost 35 family members in the Holocaust. He survived Auschwitz concentration camp, and overcame the many other horrors of that time, arriving in America with nothing on his back. Despite all, he experienced, David woke up with gratitude in his heart every day. It was an honor to know him. He adored my husband and called my daughters, and me the little butterflies.
